Soul Searching for Meaning, Purpose, and Alignment
There is something about sickness that strips life down to its bare essentials.
The noise fades. The rush slows down. The endless chase for achievement, approval, money, status, and deadlines suddenly feels distant when your body forces you to stop and simply be.
In the wake of my latest health scare, (Just when I thought I was done with hospitals) I found myself questioning many things I once thought I understood about life. Not in a hopeless way - but in a deeply reflective way. A searching way. A longing way.
I started asking myself difficult questions:
Am I truly aligned with the life God intended for me?
Have I been busy surviving while neglecting my soul?
Why do certain rooms drain me while others awaken me?
Why do some encounters feel divine, while others leave an emptiness that no success can fill?
What I discovered is that sometimes God allows stillness not to punish us, but to reveal us to ourselves.
And in those quiet hospital moments, in the discomfort, in the uncertainty, I realized something profound:
Life is incredibly fragile.
One moment we are planning next year, stressing over meetings, chasing goals, scrolling endlessly, worrying about things that may never matter… and the next moment, we are lying in a hospital bed praying simply for health, peace, another chance, another sunrise.
It humbled me.
We spend so much of our lives believing we have time:
Time to heal.
Time to rest.
Time to explore and travel
Time to pursue purpose.
Time to live
Time to become who God called us to be.
But life moves quickly.
The Bible says life is but a vapor - here today and gone tomorrow. Smoke. Mist. Temporary.
And that realization changed something in me.
I began looking differently at ordinary moments. Conversations suddenly matter more. Peace matters more. Authenticity matters more. Purpose matters more.
Even the people around me began to look different.
I started questioning connections, environments, and energy. Some spaces feed my spirit. Others slowly suffocate it. Some people bring you closer to God, purpose, and peace. Others pull you deeper into confusion, performance, and exhaustion.
Not every opportunity is alignment. Not every open door is destiny. Not every busy season is fruitful.
Sometimes we are simply disconnected from ourselves and from God, trying to force lives that no longer fit who we are becoming.
I am realizing that true alignment is not just about career success or financial freedom. It is about living in a way that allows your soul to breathe, truly breathe.
It is waking up without constantly betraying yourself. It is moving with peace instead of pressure. It is choosing purpose over performance. It is becoming spiritually grounded enough to hear God clearly above the noise of the world.
I call this season I have entered "walking deeper with God".
Walking deeper with God is uncomfortable sometimes because He begins removing illusions.
Illusions of control. Illusions of identity. Illusions of permanence.
And what remains is the real question:
Who are you when all the titles, achievements, possessions, and distractions fall away?
What scent will your life leave behind?
Because at the end of it all, we all disappear from this earth one day. The meetings will continue without us. The world will move on. New trends will come. New names will rise.
But what remains is:
Impact.
Love.
Kindness.
Healing.
Purpose.
Obedience.
Did you love deeply? Did you help people? Did you answer the calling placed on your life? Did you become who God created you to be?
I have been less interested in simply existing and more interested in living intentionally, moreso since 10 May 2026, 2 days before being hospitalised, there was deep longing within me, I even went to cum books and got myself a journal bible.
I am clear that I want a life aligned with purpose. A life rooted in faith. A life that heals, uplifts, builds, and leaves something meaningful behind.
Not perfection. Not endless hustle. Not societal applause.
Just alignment.
Maybe this season of sickness was not only about my body healing. Maybe it was also about my spirit awakening.
And perhaps some of us are not lost - just disconnected from the deeper version of ourselves that God has been trying to call forward all along.
So today, I ask you the same question I have been asking myself:
If life is but smoke…What scent will yours leave behind?
James 4:14
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes
